SOCCER.
LEAGUE POINTS
ATHLETIC v. FOXTON,
The above teams met on Easton Park on Saturday. Athletic won the toss and played with the sun at their back. There was little to pick and choose between the two teams for the first quarter of an hour when Athletic opened their score with an easy goal, to lie followed five minutes after with a second goal. Foxton played gamely with a blinding sun in their eyes, which hampered their play a good deal. One team was about as good as the other all through the first spell, Foxton being unlucky at the opponents’ goal till close on half-time when they were awarded a penalty. Crowe was entrusted with the kick and drove the ball past McKinley into the net. Athletic 2 Foxton 1. In the second spell Taylor was not able to play his usual game owing to a bad knock at the beginning of the game. Athletic- added three more goals to their total and Foxton scored their second goal through Taylor. The game v was very slow compared with the previous Saturday R.S.A.,
Athletic will have to improve very much if they want to win their Chatham Cup tie on Saturday next.
Foxton meet St. Andrews on Easton Park, on Saturday.
