MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the M»-liawatu-Oroua River Board was held in Palmerston North on Thursday, when Mr. W S. Carter occupied the chair. Others piesent were: Messrs. 11. Akers, A. Seifert, if. Wilton, B. G. Gower, J. E. C. Harrison, A. Akers and J. Richardson.
Several local bodies wrote asking for information as to the evidence to be presented at the sitting of (lie commistion which lias been set up to determine what local bodies will derive benefit troiu the Boaids proposed scheme, and also to determine how much the contribution will be towards the cost of such, works.
One member stated that apparently all the local bodies cited were going to fight the evidence. The chairman suggested that a committee from the Board, and the engineer, wait on the various local bodies and explain the evidence to them. A committee was set up to compile the evidence and explain it to the local bodies with the view of procuring their support. It was further decided that, after each local body had been interviewed individually, a general meeting of local bodies’ representatives be called. The date of the meeting is to be arranged by the chairman.
