GAS WORKS.
APRIL WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of April was 371,10« ft., which with the amount in the holder on April Ist, 14,000 ft., made a total of 385,100 ft. During the month 310,000 ft. of gas were used by the consumers, 21,000£f. at the works and there was 17,000 toot in the holder on May Ist, making a total of 357,000 ft., and leaving 27,500 ft. representing 7.1 per cent unaccounted for. Thirty-one tons of coal was carbonised during the month yielding 11907 e.ft. of gas to the ton and producing 7 tons 5 owl of coke. The earnings for the month totalled £221 12s 9d, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £45 7s Bd, heat and power £10(1 (is 3d, coke sales £32 17s lOd, tar sales £24 Is Od, fittings £l2 Os (id, miscellaneous 13s (id. The expenditure for the month totalled £2lB 9 Od and was made up as follows. —Coal £BS 7s 2d, wages £49 13s Od, fittings £9 3s sd, tools (is (id, postage and advertising £0 10s od, insurance 12s lOd, cartage and freight £1 7s 7d, working expenses 4s 7d, Power Board £2, meters £3 11s fld, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Sd. GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported that the apparatus at the works was in a fair state of repair, apart from the small gas engine, which lias been sent away for repair. During the month two cookers and one califont were installed and a service run to a new house in Gladstone St. Service pipes have been cleared out and alterations attended to. A good supply of coal is on hand and the demand for coke good.—Adopted.
