IMPROVEMENTS TO LOCAL TELEPHONE EXCHANGE.

Officers from the engineering staff of Palmerston North are at present engaged installing a new distributing frame in the local telephone exchange, a job which will probably occupy about three weeks. Subscribers are notified that, during the change-over, their telephones may bo disconnected for a few seconds at intervals. They will, thc(refo>re, undlerstaind the position if they are unable to raise the Exchange. Should the disconnection he on for any length of time, subscribers are requested to notify the Postmaster as usual. As a result of the carrying out of the above improvements, the exchange clerks will lie working undo 1 difficulties, and would greatly appreciate a little patience on the part of subscribers in the event of any delay in making connections.
