KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR CAR.
FATALITY AT PALAIERSTON. Palmerston N., May 17. John Henry Frith, about 30 years of age, was admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital early this morning suffering from injuries and shock so severe that he died half an hour later. It is stated that deceased, a married man, was walking through the Square at about 6 o’clock and was crossing the road, near the War Memorial, when lie was knocked down by a private car. He was conveyed in a semi-conscious state to the hospital, where it was ascertained that he was suffering from a scalp wound and abrasions, and from severe shock, while there was no doubt that his skull was fractured. Deceased is believed to have come from Napier, where his widow resides. An inquest will be held.
