THE MANAWATU RIVER.
PILOT’S REPORT. The pilot (C'apt. Larsen) reported as follows on soundings taken during the past month, at the monthly meeting of the Foxton Harboirr Board, held this afternoon : “During the month I have sounded the bar and river on four occasions, the results of which are as follows: — April 7th: Bar Bft. Gins, Fisherman’s flat 7ft. 3ins., April 13th: Bar 10ft., Fisherman’s Flat Oft., April 151 h.: Fisherman’s Flat Oft., Rushflat. to Aloari camp 10ft. (Sin., Robinson’s No. 3, lift., do., No. 2,12 ft., do., No. 1, Bft. 3in., Duncan’s bend - to wharf 9ft.; April 18th: Bar Oft., Fisherman’s Flat Bft. The approach to the south entrance of the Harbour Board shed is beng lowered to allow lorries, when backed in, to be level with the lloor of the shed and thus obviate the necessity of having to place a platform from the shed floor to the lorry when loading.
