OPENING A POSTAL PACKET.

YOUTH COAIAIITTED FOR SENTENCE. Palmerston North, May 14. In the Police Court, Alexander Spratley Jolly, aged 18, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court, Wellington, for sentence on a charge of opening a postal packet, the property of the Postmaster-General. Jolly was assisting in the delivery of newspapers in the Kairanga, during which lie legally took possession of two letters in connection with a rural mail delivery, one of which he opened. Accused, when interviewed by the police, handed over both letters and admitted his guilt.
