ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Foxton United Sports Assoch ation was held in the Racing Club office on Thursday night, presided over by the President (Mr. T. W. Jewell). The balance-sheet disclosed a credit balance of £67 12s 4d. In moving that the balance-sheet lie adopted, the President congratulated the members on the success that had attended the first year of their operations. Various difficulties had been encountered by tho Association prior to the motor sports meeting held last Labour Day, but that meeting had proved an unqualified success and had been the means of placing Foxton on the map with regard to motor sports. Riders who had been present at the meeting described the course as one of the best in New Zealand and expressed a willingness to come to Foxton to race at any time. He advised the Association to confine itself to motor racing in future and to eliminate pedestrian events which, in the past, had proved such n failure. The last meeting arranged by the Association and to have been held last February, had to he cancelled owing to lack of entries in the pedestrian events. Regarding to success of the motor sports, the President said that the members must have been surprised at the gate receipts, which totalled £220. The total receipts for the meeting amounted to £339 15s 6d and this, he thought, would compare more favourably with meetings held in the larger centres. He advocated the holding of a second meeting annually. In conclusion, the speaker tendered his thanks to (he members of the committee, who lie said, had made his labours as President, particularly light. They had worked assiduously throughout the year and the success of the sports meeting had, to a large extent, been due to their efforts.
Mr. D. Christie also endorsed the remarks of the President and congratulated the Association on its sound financial position. He advocated the inclusion in the next motor sports programme of pushbike events. An amateur cycling club had been formed locally and lie was of opinion that it should be encouraged. Although not as exciting as the motor events, the cycling events would serve to fill the gap between the motor races. Mr. Christie’s suggestion was noted as a recommendation to the incoming committee. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron: Mr. Linklater, M,P.; President: Mr. W.
