FOOTBALL.
(By “Onlooker.”) In the curtain-raiser match between Foxton District High School and Foxton fourths, played prior to the Foxton-Berhampore match, last Saturday, the fourths were victorious by 9 points to 6. Scorers for the winners were Aldridge (2), and Andresen, and for High School E. 1 Ball and R. Ball. “Mick” Cook has reason to feel proud of the Thirds, who gave the best exhibition of football at the Levin seven-a-side tournament on Saturday. In the first round Foxton A downed Weraroa by 21 to nil, and Foxton B defeated Shannon by oto 5. In the final between Foxton A and B, the former won by. 15 to nil. The referee, Mr. R. Kingi, was hard put to it to keep pace with the fleet-footed Foxton boys.
The Union should set up a classification committee to grade certain players who are reputed to be members of a certain junior club. Also, I might suggest that any club which can’t rake up a team to travel should be ruled out this season.
A meeting of all juniors and intending juniors will be held in J. A Vails’ Tea-rooms to-morrow evening at 7.30 o’clock.
