FEILDING MEETING

The outstanding feature of the opening day’s racing on Saturday of the Feilding J.C. Autumn meeting was the wretched failure of the favourites, a second and three thirds being their portion. It is indeed a long time since favourites had such a bad run on this course, and outside of one dividend of solid double-figure dimensions, the winners and runners-up were at good odds against. Despite the continuous failure of the public fancies, the totalisator investments kept up remarkably well, the machine handling £258 less than last year, the respective figures being £35,031 and £35,200. The day was fine, but bitterly cold, and the track very hard. The meeting was concluded on Monday in fine sunny weather on a good track. The attendance was very large. The sum of £40,079 went through the totalisator, compared with £45,804 for the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £76,010, as against £79,004 for the 1925 meeting.
