BROWN STREET.
QUESTION DEFERRED,
The road foreman reported as follows at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, concerning Brown Street: —
“I have inspected the above street, and estimate that to form this road with a sufficient easy gradient, and allowing for enough batter on the sides of the cutting, will necessitate the removal of at least 1000 cubic yards of sand. This, with the work of fascining the sides of the cutting, putting in a new culvert at the junction/of this road with Reeve St., and covering the loose sand, would amount to approximately £BS, and, should Brown Street prove as treacherous as some other cuttings in the borough, it would be as well to allow another £lO for contingencies, making a total of £95.”
A petition was also read from Mr G. A. Hobbs for the formation of Nye Street. After discussion it was decided to hold over both matters in the meantime.
