BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The usual monthly meeting' of the Foxton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night (Monday. Senior Councillor M. H. Walker occupied the chair Also present were Crs. Me Murray, Thompson, Wloods, Cowley, Winstanley, Rand, Parkin, and Adams.
A letter was received from the Colosseum Stores Ltd, making application to erect a benzine pump on the curbing opposite their premises. —Held over. Decided that Mr P. J. Jack’s tender for scats for the Town Hall be accepted. The Town Clerk was instructed to write to the Manawatu County Council stating it was the intention of the Foxton Council to asphalt certain streets in the Borough, the boundaries of which were under the dual control of the County and Borough, and to state the latter body was willing to contribute its share of the cost of asphalting these boundary roads; also to ask the Council if it was prepared to pay its share, or to arrange for its portion to be done, and if so, when. Accounts amounting to £1055 4s Od, were passed for payment. ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT. The road foreman reported that during the past month the road staff has been engaged on the following works: —Asphalting parking site in Avenue road, top-dressing Clyde St., repairing footpath Clyde St., trimming and blinding loose metal Victoria St., patching ruts in Whyte St. and Avenue Road, filling in sewer trenches Cook and Coley Sts., grading southern side of Clyde St., and general maintenance work. At present the staff is engaged in relaying a culvert across Russell St. —Adopted. WATER WORKS FOREMAN’S REPORT. The Water Works foreman reported that during the month the Water Works staff had been engaged on. the following works: —Finishing off Avenue Road sewer, laying Norbiton Road, washing and cleaning manholes and channeling. During the month 1,150,000 gallons of water was pumped, the maximum current used being 32.5 amps. Adopted. The ranger reported that during the month one horse was impounded and driving fees to the amount of 1 /.- collected.—Adopted.
