DIXON CUP AND TUCKER BADGES.

A very keen contest for the Dixon Cup and Tucker badges was witnessed at the Feilding greens on Saturday between Feilding (holders) and Manawatu (challengers) the respective teams being Ross, Clapham, Qunvle and Herdman (s) and Hunter, Gerrand, Broughton, Corbridge (s). Feilding scored two on the first head. At the sixth head, the game was five all. Manawatu s.cored three on the 7th head. Feilding got a single on the Bth and 9th, the score being Manawatu 8. Feilding 7. Manawatu scored one on the next head. Feilding then followed with a single and a three, putting them two in the lead. In the next head, Manawatu scored one. The board showed 13 all on the 15th head, singles followed on the next four heads," the scores on the 19th being 15 all. Feilding got one ahead at the next and when the skips went down for the last, Manawatu was lying 3. Herdman drove the kitty into the ditch and lay the shot. Corbridge drew to the ditch with his first and just rolled in, but succeeded in drawing the shot with his next hall, making the score 16 all — Feilding thus retains the Cup, entitling it to have its name on the shield.

A rink from the Manawatu Club, Andrew, Davies, Radford, Spooner (s) journeyed to Shannon and defeated Morgan, Blight, Murray and Gagliardi (s), for the Manson and Barr Cup on Saturday. Shannon scored a three and a single on the first two heads. Manawatu scored 3 on the 3rd head and the scores were even on the sixth head --five all —on the tenth head, they were again level —8 all. Shannon were again unable to lower t lie Levin Bowling Club’s colours in a match on'Saturday for the Kinneburgh Feathers (says the Chronicle). At the 17th head the home rink were two down, but their 5 points at Die next head gave them the victory, the final score being Levin 23, Shannon 15.
