FOXTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

Enrolment of pupils for the secondary department of the above school ha>- been proceeding during the week and the majority of parents of eligible pupils have interviewed the headmaster (Mr,, F. A. Mason). The number of pupils offering is well up to anticipations, but there are still a number of parents to be seen and it would appear not at all improbable that the opening roll number will be about 40. Two temporary teachers, Mrs M. C. Price and Mr. G. Parker, have been appointed and the pupils are asked to meet at the Anglican schoolroom at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday next. Furniture and equipment is coming to hand, and everything is being done to make the inauguration of the Foxton District High School a success. Pupils enrolled include several who will at the end of pie year be sitting for the Matriculation examination as well as a number who will be preparing for the Junior National Scholarship, Public Service Entrance, and Senior Free Place examinations. The success of the school depends largely upon the children enrolled at the outset, and we trust that these foundation pupils will throughout the year work with the will to establish a name for themselves, their parents, their school and their district.

We would like to ay peal (o all, parents who can possibly see their way clear to do so to give the new institution their whole hearted support. Foxton must not lag behind and must be made to progress. The accommodation at present provided is, of course, only temporary, and if Foxton-is to have another school building to grace the town, support for the District High School must be unstinted as far as the pupils are concerned. The headmaster will be pleased to interview before Tuesday all those parents who have not yet enrolled their children.
