CORRESPONDENCE
(To the Editor)
Sir. —Please grant me space in which to ask the local representatives of the Harbour Board, and Mr. McMurray in particular, when he is going to bring about the realization of those dreams of progress which he unfolded to the electors nine months ago, when appealing for support, at the biennial elections? I have so far failed to see any improvement in the river; I have failed to see any improvement in the volume of trade; I have also failed to see any addition to the lonesome fleet of one ship, sailing up the river. In fact it seems to me purely a ease of “as you were.” Why, may I ask, has this “apostlo (.f progress” failed to carry out, those promises so profoundly enunciated? Why are the public saying the Harbour Board is dormant, of which it has every appearance, except as regards improvements at the Beach. Is it not time that we, of the public, bad some account of the stewardship of the local members of the Board. It seems to me that things want stiri jug up a bit. Will Mr. McMurray explain publicly, why the infusion of new blood on the Harbour Board, dried up so quickly. Yours etc., E. G. MARTIN.
