FOXTON WINS “THE NEWMAN CUP.”
On Saturday the Bulls Club sent a team to Foxton to -play for the Newman Cup. This cup was presented by the Hon. Edward Newman when he represented the Manawatu Electorate, and was for competition by Clubs within that area. During all this period the Bulls Club (with one exception when Shannon won it) has successfully beaten off all challengers. On many occasions when other Clubs have been unable to get a team to travel the Bulls Club has travelled to their opponents’ courts, and taken the cup with them. This happened on Saturday. Although they were unable to get their best team away, nevertheless they came over and such sportsmanlike action is to be greatly commended. Although Foxton won it was only by a natiow margin, practically every game being keenly contested.
