DIXON CUP MATCH,

A rink from Palmerston North Bowling Club visited Woodville on Saturday and contested for the Dixon Cup.- The game was very even throughout, the scores being IS all on the twentieth head. Woodville made two on the last head, the game ending 20 —18. The rinks were:—Woodville: James, Mules, Horn, Wiardrop (s): Palmerston: Needham, Rowling. Tattersall. N. H. Nash (s). HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS.

On Christmas Day a pairs tournament wilt be held, iu accordance with the usual custom. Play will commence at t) a.in.

Arrangements for - subsequent days during the holidays will be made from day to day. Levin and Shannon met on the former’s green on Saturday to play for the Kinueburgh Feathers. Shannon sent over a strong team which, however, was unsuecessfuL The visiting rink, comprising Messrs. Whibley, Blyght, Murray, and Gagliardi (skip) scored 22 points as against 23 points aggregated by Messrs. Pyke (skip) Sigley, Clements, Junr., and Suhau, the Levin rink. After the first head, and up to the lGth, Shannon were leading all the way. Levin then scored a live which brought them up to 17, making the score 17 —18. Ihey then scored a two on the 17th and one on the 18th. Shannon getting a two, thereby making 20 all on the 10th head Levin retaliated with a three on the 20th head, which meant Shannon getting four to win. This they failed to do and by scoring only two they allowed the Levin x'ink to win by the narrow margin of one point. The win was, therefore, by no means an easy one, both sides contributing some very fine play from the first bowl to the last decisive head. —Chronicle.
