PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting was held in the Plunket office yesterday afternoon. Present Mesdames F. Robinson (pres.), Pearson, Austin- . Johnston, Walton /Trueman, Christie, F. Proctor, Downes and McMurray. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames F. McDonald, A. Ross, Barr and Owen. The nurse’s report showed visits to Foxton 3, to homes 5, children to ottiee 33, adults to office 37, new eases 2, letters 10. Prior to the meeting the guesses in the competition for the Plunket toy doll, which has been on view at the C. M. Ross Co.’s shop, were gone through, by Mesdames AustinJohnston (donor of the doll), MeMurray and Pearson. The name chosen for the doll was “Benny.” There were some well-thought-out names, such as “Truby,” “Plunket,” “Truby King,” etc. As no one guessed the name, it was decided to hold a number guessing competition with “Benny” as the prize. Entries are to close at 7.30 on New Year’s Eve. The list for entries is at the C. M. Ross Co.’s shop, where the drawing will take place, and the announcement made. All those who participated in the first competition are to be given a number 'in this competition. Entries from the first competition were not all from Foxton, many being residents of Feilding, Wellington and as far north as Rangataua. Mesdames F. Robinson, Austin-.fohnston, Pearson and McMurray were appointed to supervise the drawing. Proceeds of dolls donated by Mrs Pearson, and sold at Mr G. T. Smith’s shop, 7/6, were received. Air E. Healey’s weighing machine netted S/- for the month.

The room contribution box contained 7/-. Air H. Osborne was accorded a vole of thanks for collecting . and delivering a ease of emulsion to the Blanket office free of charge. It was agreed to hold the next meeting on January 25th, 1926, and. to hold a shop day on January 30th. Airs E. Robinson was appointed llower steward and Mesdames 'F. Robinson and D. Christie visitors for the month. An account for £2 1/11 was passed for payment.
