The High Commissioner’s cable, dated 30th instant, reads: — Manila market firm, with good demand. “J” grade, DecemberFebrunry shipments sold up to £44 Lss od, Jaimary-March shipments £45 IDs od. Market easier at the close. Sisal market steady, and demand only moderate. Tanganyika, there are buyers of No. 1 up to £4O 10s (Jd; first marks inferior quality difficult t'» sell. New Zealand market firm, with better demand. Highpoints sold at £4O, fair £3O, for Oe-tober-December February shipments. Tow offered more freely on the basis of £2O for No. 2 quality.
