SALVATION ARMY
A NNIVE RSA RY SERVICES.
The Anniversary Services of the local corps of the Salvation Army were conducted last Sunday by Commandant Smith of Wellington when addresses suitable to the occasion were given. The splendid singing of the children was a special feature of the afternoon and night services. The singing was assisted by an orchestra comprising Mrs I' 1 . Chalk and Mr. S. Small, violins, Mr. F. Ebbett, cornet, Mr. If. Osborne, tenor, Mrs 11. Osborne, bass violin, Miss M. Symons, organ. A duet by Horace and Phyliss Tongs at the evening service was much enjoyed. Finance for the day was exceptionally good. On Monday night a good programme was rendered to a crowded and appreciative audience in the Hall. The various drills, tableaux, songs recitations, etc., were roundly applauded, and reflected great credit on the children, and Mrs Captain Stone and her helpers. The distribution. of prizes 'by Commandant Smith, brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. Children obtaining possible marks for the year were, Elorrie Symons Phyllis Tongs and Arthur Stone.
