ELECTORIAL ROLL.
PREVIOUS TOTAL ALREADY EXCEEDED. SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE STILL EXPECTED. At the beginning of the month the total number of names on the electoral rolls was 730,200, as against a total of 700,111 for the year 1922 (says the Dominion). It is expected that the figures this year will be fairly substantially increased by the number of registrations effected botween October 1 and October 15, especially in view of the compulsory requirements of the Act passed this year. The following figures show the total number of electors registered in the previous election years:—

The increase between 1908 and 1911 was 53,039; between 1911 and 1914, 26,001; between 1914 and 1919, 67,377. The decrease of 16,691 between 1919 and 1922 was due to the war. The following Wellington and adjacent district figures show the state of the rolls as at September 30, compared with the fiugures for 1922:
