ELECTRICAL STORM
ANIMALS KILLED.
Eketahuna, September 19. There was a protracted thunderstorm of exceptional severity, with vivid lightning and torrential rain, last night. At Nireaha five calves and a dog were killed by lightning, and a tree was shattered and fell across the road. Mrs. Hansen, who was using a telephone, received a shock, and was unconscious for I wen tv minutes.
TOWN IN DARKNESS. Ohakune, September 19. Two terrific storms passed over Ohakune and Raetihi at 7.30 last night and 1.30 this morning. The thunder shook the buildings. Ohakune was plunged into darkness for half an hour, the main fuse at the powerhouse having been burnt out during the first storm. Lightning shattered a telegraph post at Raetihi.
Otaki, September 19. There was a heavy hailstorm last night.
