AMBULANCE FOR FOXTON.
NO SUBSIDY FROM HOSPITAL BOARD. • A letter was read at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board on Thursday from the Foxton Borough Council, asking if the Board, in the event of Fofxton providing a motor-ambu-lance for the conveyance of its citizens to and from the Hospital, would contribute towards the cost of the ambulance in the form of a subsidy; also if a grant would be made yearly towards the upkeep of the vehicle. The chairman (Sir J. G. Wilson) asked if there was any difficulty of Foxton getting its patients to the hospital. The secretary reported that there was not but there was always difficulty in conveying long distance patients to the Hospital. If the Board was favourably inclined to the request it would be. as well to decide immediately so that, an order for the indent of the necessary vehicle could be sent away at once. Mr. Monk considered the matter should be referred to the executive for consideration. Mr.J. W. Bramwell considered that the Board would be creating a precedent and other places might apply for similar help. It was decided to inform the Foxton Council that it was not the policy of the Board to subsidise schemes of this-sort.
