FOXTON RACING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meoting'of the Foxton liaf-iuo- Club was held in the Town Hall supper-room last night, presided over by J. R. Whyte Esq. (Presidenl). There was an attendanee of SO members present. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. A. X. Smith. E. V. West and L. Freeman.

Tn welcoming Ihose present, the President said it was gratifying to see such interest being taken in *iio Club. He also reminded those present that they could obtain any information or make any recommendations re the working of the Club at the meeting. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. The President expressed deep regret at the death since last annual meeting of six of its members, Alesrs. A. Keith, A. Haas man, P>. Ling, L. Piggoit, W. J. Nnylon and A. King. Besides being a member, Mr. Key lon had been a Club steward and had always evinced a keen interest in Club matters. Mr. Keith had been a very old member of: the chili, having joined 27 years ago and had held the position of secretary for many years and at the lime of his death was official starter.

Votes of sympathy were carried in silence. Votes of sympathy were also accorded Messrs. G. C. Coley and O. R. Robinson, in their illness and the wish was expressed for their speedy recovery. REPORT AND BALANCESHEET.

Tn moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (previously published), the President congratulated the members on the improved financial position, considering it very satisfactory. The attendance at the last meeting had been poor but this could he accounted for by the epidemic and bad weather experienced on one day. Taxation was a great drain upon upon the funds, £20(14 having been paid out in this way. Tt was hoped, However, that in the future there would he some relief in this expenditure.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted s follows:'— Patron: Mr. F. Robinson; President: Air. ,1. R. Whyte; Vice-Presi-dents; Messrs. W. E. Barber, R. Bryant, H. Coley, C. E. Robinson. Committee" Messrs. F. C. Hay, C. 0. Price and Y. Robinson; S. Austin, Af. P>. Bergin, W. T. Jewell, S. Jackson, C. A. Pearson, J. Purcell; Auditor: Air. A. Fraser. Considerable discussion arose as i • i whether three or four stewards should be elected. Air. J. Burr contending that owing to the resignation of Mr. A. N. Smith, four should be elected.

Tl was oxplaini'd that ATr. Smith was regarded as one of the automatically retiring stewards, and :!><• chairman's ruling on this matter was final. NEW MEMBERS.

The following new members were proposed:—-Messrs. 0. Arens, E. (1. Seeker, D. Gilbert (, W. McTvnight and IT. Bond.

Mr. John Burr gave notice of motion to move: —“That Hule 20 be amended as follows All the words after the word “business be deleted, ~ml the following substituted therefore (Id. Notices of Motion; (2). Report and Balance-sheet; (3). Special and General; (4). Appointment of Auditor; (5). Election of i H'ticcrs."

Mr. Burr said that he was prepared to delete the whole of the jatier part of the notice of motion if provision was made to include notices of motion on the agender paper.
