TOURIST TRAFFIC
Wellington, July 2fi. The annual report of' the tourist Department, talked on I last week, was tabled to-day after some further debate and ordered to be printed. The Department looks forward to a heavy season. There was slightly fewer overseas tourists last year than during- the proceeding year, of the resorts, Te Aroba showed a loss of £2071 and Rotorua of £5,SSI. The Rotorua acclimatisation district showed a profit of f.IRi!) and the Waitomo Caves of £207;"). There were losses at Waikaremoana J_' 1 Do, Queenstown £4(15, and (Hade House and Te Anau Milford track, £Ol5. The last fishing season in the Rotorua district showed a marked deterioration, as compared with the pivcceding season. The returns from the agencies were: Auckland, £ 10,454: Rotorua, £4,SIS: Wellington, £2OJMiB; Christchurch, £20,7.41; Dunedin, £.10,140; Invercargill. £4.002; Te Aroint, £8; (J rev moil Ih, £104: Nelson, nil; total, £70,350.
