NO-CONFIDENCE DEBATE.
Wellington July 20. The Financial .Debate had hardly ..pencil in the House of Representatives last evening before it was converted into a no-contidence debate. Mr. Sidney, who made the opening speech in place of Mr. Wilfurd, moved a direct want of confidence amendment. The offence he alleged against the Government was that it had failed to bring into effect an equitable system of taxation. Sir James I’arr, who was il*t* next speaker, not only dealt with this charge but opened a lively counter-attack and carried the war well into the enemy country, lncidenily the Minister declared his cmli«tehee that after the impending elect ioii Mr. Coates would be leadci of a united party.
