MANAWATU-HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.
A MALGAMATION COMPLETED.
The. constitution of the amalgamated rugby unions of Manawatu and Horowhenua was iinuljy approved and signed at Levin during the week-end. Messrs A. Hannay, president of the .Manawatu Rugby Football Union, Mr J. B. Proud, executive officer, and Mr A. S. Faire, vice-president, took a leading part in the negotiations, and were accompanied by J. R- Hardie (treasurer), K. W. Eglington and C. W. White, the fujl executive of the Horowhenua Rugby Union being present. The signed constitution goes forward immediately to Wellington for ratification by the New Zealand Rugby Football Union. The two full scommittees meet at Palmerston N. on Saturday, August Bth., to elect the first combined executive, which will later that evening hold its inaugural meeting. The amalgamation takes effect at once, the fixture with Horowhenua has therefore been altered from August 15th to August Bth, to enable the first “combined” team to be chosen to meet Southland at Palmerston N. on Wednesday, August 12th.
