HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the 18th instant, reads: — Hemp: Manila market opened firm. J grade quoted at £49 sellers, hut weaker tendency developed during this week; closing quotations were, August-Oetober shipments £47 10s and value.- Output of Manila from Ist January io 9th July was 599,000 bales, as against 819,000 bales for the same period last year. Stocks in Manila on 9th July were 178,000 bales, against 143,000 bales; in Great Britain, 28,000 bales, against 5,000 bales last year. New Zealand market closed quiet after linn opening. Sales reported in high-points at £4O, and fair £37. Sellers now offering high-points £4O and fair £35 10s.
