CYRENA INQUIRY.

LOG ENTRIES DECLARED FAULTY. Wanganui, June 21. The Magistrate made (he following statement during the Cyrena inquiry: “If the oral evidence of Captain Patterson and his officers is to he accepted—and avo do not wish to say Ave do not accept —-it may ho considered proved that flic ship’s draught was approximately Ififeei ft inches. We are of opinion that this evidence should be supported by documentary evidence in the ship’s log in a form that would, put it beyond dought on this point. We are of opinion that these records are not satisfactory and show some evidence of slackness. The log books have not followed the instructions and do not give the help they should.”
