WEDDING.
BL A C KBURN—FURSDON. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in All Saints’ Church, Foxton, last Wednesday, the contracting parties being Florence Christine, only daughter of Mr and Airs W. Fursdon, of Marotiri, and John Gordon, only son of Airs J. Blackburn of Wellington. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. W. H. Walton. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming dress of ivory chiffon velvet, with an overdress of ivory georgette edged with swansdown. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossom (the veil being lent by Mrs Clarke, of Wanganui). She carried a sheath of ivory chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern, and was attended by Aliss D. Clarke (ol Wanganui), who wore lavender brocaded velvet with a lavender net hat. trimmed with silver lace and silver streamers, B in<l the Afisses F. and A. Campbell, of Afarotiri who wore green velvet dresses with green maroeain hats, trimmed with silver beaver and silver streamers. All three bridesmaids carried bouquets of violets and asparagus fern. Little Aliss Valeric Cooper, (cousin of the bride) acted as flower girl, and was daintily dressed in lavender brocaded velvet, trimmed with white marabout fur and violets with lavender maroeain mob cap, edged with marabout fur, and silver streamers. She carried a basket of violets and asparagus fern. Air T. W. Fursdon acted as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a string of pearls, to the bridesmaids gold pendants, and to the flower girl a string of pearls. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a suit case. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. At the conclusion of the ceremony the wedding breakfast was held in Perreau’s rooms when about 30 guests wen* present and the usual toasts were honoured and felicitous speeches made.
After tin* ceremony the bride deposited her bouquet on the Soldier’s Alemorial Monument in the Triangle. Later in the day the happy couple left for Wellington where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride’s travelling dress was of grey gabardine, with brocaded velvet tunic to match, and a waterfall of henna crepe-de-ehene. Her travelling c-oat was of grey velour, and hat of grey brocaded satin, with underlining of henna, and henna coloured plume and grey shoes and stockings. The bride’s mother was dressed in a cinnamon brown French silk coat frock, with velour hat, shoes and stockings to tone. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue coat frock, piped with red, and a grey velour hat. The presents were numerous and costly, and several telegrams were received and read during the reception.
