FOXTON BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Foxton Beautifying Society was held in the rest room on Friday evening, presided over by the President (Mr M. E. PerreauL There was a fair attendance and apologies for absence were received from Rev, F. McDonald and Mrs F. Robinson. The annual report and balancesheet were adopted as follows: — During the year the Society, with the belli <>f Ihe Borough Council, acquired from the Justice Department, a piece of ground adjoining the Court House and Town Hall. The fencing lias been moved back and re-erected, and a concrete kerbing and six seats with concrete basis placed at intervals. The ground has been levelled and laid down in grass. Street trees have been replaced where necessary and tree guards attended to, A concrete path in Ihakara Gardens is in the course of construction. The Bor-
ough Council made a donation to l lie funds and also granted a bonelit picture entertainment, the total amount being £23 4s. The committee wished to record its appreciation of the work done by the caretaker during the year, also to (hank all those who donated trees and shrubs for planting on Arbor Day. The balance-sheet was as follows :
Receipts: —Cash in hand £3l 19s Sd, subscriptions and donations £24 7s Id, Rost Office Account £SO, a total of £IOO Os 9d. Expenditure: — Wages £SO 3s (id, trees £4 10s, Od, Courthouse section improvements £35 ,1-ls 3d. sundry expenses £9 4s Od, balance at bank £0 15s od, a total of £IOO (is Sid. Balance at Bank £0 15s od. balance at Post Office £l5O, a total of £l5O 15s Od. The president in speaking to tliereport, congratulated the .Society mi its work during the year and said that the credit balance of £l5O 15s was a very satisfactory. He also thanked the secretary (Mr F. Rimmer) for his work on behalf of the Society. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted a-, follows: — President: Mr M. E. IVircau tMayor); vice-presidents: Airs F. Robinson and Rev. \V. Walton; committee: Mesdames Perreau, Moore, McMttrray, P. Easton, Delany, and Miss Ross, Messrs. Christie. Mason, Winstanley, Admore, Rev. Pcrviiinn, and Delany; secretary and treasurer: Mr F. Rimmer; auditor: Mr E. Jackson. GENERAL.
It was agreed to franfer the sum of £59 from the Post Office Savings Bank jo Bank of New Zealand for operation. It was also decided that the footpath on Court House plot be laid down in concrete and that prices tor the work be obtained, and that Mr R. Owen lx* asked to plant climber roses on the Court House fence, the plants to lx* supplied by the Society. The Society approved of the proposed improvements to be carried out by th Borough Council at Victoria Park. The secretary was instructed to write io the Council, asking that it give consideration to the carrying out of (lie original scheme, as planned for Easton Park. The president reported that .all the trees planted in streets had recently been attended to, and were in good order.
