STEAMER CYRENA.

ABANDONED TO UNDERWRITERS. Wanganui, June 12. The C'yrena, which struck a submerged object outside the harbour entrance seventeen days ago, and was damaged so badly that she had to be beached, ended her career to-day, when she broke her back. The steamer is now in two sections. The weather was rough all day and the vessel started to break up at about 2 o’clock iu the afternoon. FURTHER DRIFT INSHORE. WRECKAGE EUR AGUES ALONG THE COAST. Wanganui, June 12. During the night the forward portion of the steamer Cyrena drifted inshore. The stern is halfturned completely round, exposing the broken gap to the full fury of the waves. This morning the bulkhead between No. 3 and 4 holds gave way, and thousands of tins, cases, and barrels poured out. Wreckage litters the coast for miles.
