PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the above was held in the Plunket office on Monday afternoon, Mrs F. Robinson presiding over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from the Mayor and Mayoress and Mesdames W. Walton, Chrystall, Rowley and A. Baker, A motion of sympathy with Mrs W. F. Massey and family in their irreparable loss, and regret that the Dominion has lost such a great leader and statesman, was passed, members standing in silence. REPORT. The annual report and balance sheet was read and adopted as follows : The Society is to be congratulated on its financial position. We started the year with a credit balance of £3O 8s 11. Our expences during the year amounted to £55 19s od. After meeting all liabilities to date, our credit balance is £34 8s Gd. The Nurse visited Foxton 4G times this year as against 52 the previous year. This makes the total number of visitors to the office less than it would be. It should be approximately 1160. At- the beginning of the year the committee decided that in order to raise funds and that each member of the committee would g'et- an equal share of work the committee be formed into groups. The president and vice-presidents each being head of a group. Groups to make their own arrangements for raising funds. The total amount raised £42 9s Od. Owing to Palmerston North opening a branch at Levin the day for the Nurse’s visit to Foxton had to he changed from Friday of each week to Thursday.

Later Nurse Hughes took over Foxton in place of Nurse Ogden. For a short time the visits to the office were less in consequence of the change of day. In July 1924, a Mothers’ Social Afternoon was held —about 50 mothers, and over 20 babies being present. A short address by Nurse Ogden was much appreciated. Mrs F. liobinson, President, as delegate for our sub-bran-ch, attended general conference held in Wellington, in September last year. The society is indebted to her for the valuable information she was able to acquire there and pass on to our committee. New baby scales have been purchased, and have been in use sine# October last. Thanks are due to Mr D. W. Robertson for the scales previously in use on loan, since the society was formed in October, 1921. We wish to thank Mr T. Madge, who conveys the Nurse to and from Foxton free of charge. Also to Mis W. Kirkland, who supplies lunch to the Nurse; Mesdames M. E. Perreau, and J. Walls, afternoon teas; Mr W Trueman (auditor), Mrs C. A. Pearson; The C. M. Ross 00., Mrs Aus-tin-Johnstone and Miss B. Pearson for use of bicycle. BALANCE-SHEET.
