GIRL ATTACKED WITH RAZOR.

SEVERELY WOUNDED ON NECK. Auckland, Last Night. A young single woman, Gertie Best, aged twenty, believed to be a waitress, was taken to hospital tonight suffering from severe wounds on the neck and throat. Her condition is serious.

Pedestrians in the city to-night state she was attacked by a man with a razor, and before she could be rescued she was gravely hurt. She was operated upon, but was so weak as to be unable to give a connected account of the affair. Later in the evening, a man named Bertie Best, aged about twentyfive, was detained on a charge of common assault.
