FINE INFLICTED AND LICENSE ENDORSED. Christchurch, Yesterday. William Hayes, farmer, of West Mellon, was charged before Mr Cruicksliank, S.M., with having been found in a state of int.oxition while in charge of a motor car. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate said: “One has to make an example of a man like this. He is quite a decent limn, but he had a glass of beer. After that, it’s much easier to accept another and gradually he got five beers into him.” The Sub-inspetor: “There’s nothing suggested against Ins character.” The Magistrate: “He is fined £5 and disqualified from obtaining a driver’s license for six months from to-day. —Six months is not a very long time, and he will have to use a bufgy or something when he comes in.”
