BOWLING.

VISITORS FROM' OT.VKT AND SI fa NNON TO-MORROW. It is anticipated that visitors will he present from Otnki and Shannon Clubs to-morrow — three rinks front Otaki and two from Shannon. Given good weather, a really enjoyable afternoon will result, and all members are asked to lie present at 1.30 p.m. if possible, -o that a prompt commencement can be made. The cati ring arrangements will be as usual —ci.n|uet players and bowlers bring a basket. The positioned gala . day of the Terrace End Bowling. Croquet and Tennis Club was held mi Saturday, when the conditions for play were ideal. Competitions for the howling and tennis sections were organised and huge entries were received for all contests.

A rinks tournament was held, eight competing. Three rounds were played, and the linn 1 game was between a Woodville and Ter race End rink, and resulted in a win for the visitors by four heads to otic, the game being played only

up to live heads. Ten rinks competed in the electric light tournament in the evening. Three rounds were played and then it Wes discovered that the Takaro and Terrace End A eaeh had three wins so a final was played and restilti'il in a win for the home team by 11 to 1. The tournament was a great success in every way and the eompet it ors expressed great pleasure with the arrangements made by Mr. E. Anderson and also with the splendid lighting. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS PAIRS. Ihe champion of champions pairs contest under the auspices of the Manawatu Bowling Centre was commenced at the Terrace End Club's greens on-Saturday morning in glorious weather. There were a number of country clubs represented in addition to those in town, and play continued throughout the day. Although the rounds were got off expeditiously, it was found impossible, however, to complete the contest, and the conclusion of one of the semi finals and the final had to be postponed until another date. The results were as follows: First round: —J. H. and N. H. Nash (Palmerston North defeated A. E. James and G. Wardrop (Woodville), 28—17; Morgan and Flint (Takaro) defeated Gilbert and Hendry (Dannevirke), 29—11; Sitatid and Eekersley (Manawatu) defeated Mi-llen and Ingram (Feildirig). 29 —21; Bisset and Paterson Pahiatua, defeated Moffat and Duncalf (Terrace End), 21—13, Challies and Rankin (Levin) defeate 1 Palmer and Morshead (Northern), 23—21. Byes: Foxton, Eketahuna * and Shannon.

Second round : —Capes and Gaglianli (Shannon) defeated WinNianlcy and Head ( Foxton) 17— 13 ' Morgan and Flint (Takaro) lost to ■I. H. Nash and N. 11. Nash (Palmerston North) 19 —34: Challies and Rankin (Levin) defeated L. and F. Percy (Eketnhuna), 18—17; Rissetr and Paterson (Pahiatua) defeated Shand and Eckersley t Mana wa t u). 2ti —13. Scmi-linals:- —Challies and Rankin (Levin) defeated Capes and C.igliardi (Shannon). 27 —14. When (day was suspended for the day, Bisson and Paterson (Pahiatua), who were in contest with J. 11. and X. 11. Nash (Palmerston North), the other semi-tinalists .were leading 17 —13 on the 14th head.

MAXSON AND BARR CUP. A rink representing the Palmerston Xnrih howling club journeyed to Puiiiaiiia on Saturday in quest of the Manson and Barr Cup, whih trophy the latter club had won the previous week from Woodville. The green was in splendid order, drawing keenly i>n either hand. The visitors established sty big lead in the early stages of the game, the score at the lllh head reading Palmerston North 17, Pahiatua 2. Alter the tea adjournment however, the holders picked the pace of the griou better, and by scoring on a majority of the heads brought a tally to: Palmerston North 22, Pahin lua 21 at the 18th. A 2 and a 3 to Palmerston North on the 19th and 20th placed the issue beyond doubt, the Huai scores being, Palmerston North (.1. Boniface, Treuiiiin, Mollis. Trott (s) 28, Pahiatsia (Jennings. Roach, Hcwat, Morton (s) 21.
