NEW ZEALAND V. VICTORIA. Wellington, Last Night. The first Test New Zealand and Victoria commenced to-day in fine weather. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first on a good wicket. However, they were dismissed for 226/ runs. Alloo who was top scorer with 51 (not out) played a sound and valuable innings, and good form was also shown by Worker and Blunt who batted solidly. Hiddleston commenced well and Ihe two last batsmen, Dickinson and Mcßeth played brightly.Liddieutt, Wallace and Hartkopf bore the brunt of the attack and ail did well. They were supported by a Keen field. New Zealand knocked up 226. Vicoi’ia commenced their innings with half an hour to go, but after two overs had been bowled it was decided to draw stumps with no /Wickets for 5.
