In fuel, so marked was this reduction as disclosed by the monthly statement concerning the gas works, submitted to tire last Borough Council meeting, 11ml the Council considered some immediate action should be taken for an improvement of affairs, and a special meeting'to go into the matter was called for last night. Present: Tlis Worship the Mayor (John C'lirystall Esq.) and Pits. Bryant, Smith, Thompson, Adam.Parkin and Walker. Mr Downes (gas manager) was also in attendance. An apology for absence was received from Or. Cr. Thompson voted against the motion. “That the Town Clerk and gas manager have printed a suitable circular clearly setting out: —(1) Cost of gas cooker and terms on which same can be purchased. (,2) Reduced cost of gas. (3) Free installation. (-1) Advantages of cooking with gas. f 5) Any other points in favour of gas cookers. That the gas manager deliver circulars personally and where possible, lo endeavour to get the householder to have a cooker installed.”
