Yesterday afternoon one rink from Northern Club visited Foxton. 1; was anticipated that a number of links from Palmerston would be present, but this was not realised on account of inter-club fixtures in that town. The following are the details of the game: Xorthen secured a. substantial lead from the start and ’maintained it until the eleventh head, when the .-cores stood 21 —!) in favour of the visitors. Foxton, however, got into iheir stride and made points freely from then on, and finished, only five down. Northern: Allen, Boon, Galland, Weavers (s) 27 v. Waiton, Downes, Woods, Barr (s) 22.
A challenging rink skipped by Thomson were successful in a match for the Nye Ferns yesterday afternoon. In the absence of Smith, Walker skipped for the holders and Christie played third as substitute. Until after the eighth head had been played the game looked like a close contest. The scores at this juncture were five ali. However, Thomson’s rink had tilings their own wav from the ninth io the eighteenth head, piling up a total of 27 of their opponents’ five. The final scores were 29-0. Thomson played good bowls throughout, and repeatedly changed the position when his opponents were lying. Challengers: Winslanley, Mason, A d more, Thomson (s) 29 v. Mattar Powell, Christie, Walker 9. Balls idub has accepted an invitation to send three or four rinks to Foxton on Wednesday next. Terlaee End Club also intend sending a couple of rinks.
