WATERSIDE WORKERS AND THE ARBITRATION COURT.

SA U.CARTfC RESOLUTIONS. Dunedin, Last Night. A special meeting of the Dunedin vvatersiders to-day passed the following resolution: — “'filial this meeting of Dunedin waterside workers tenders its appreciative thanks to the Arbitration Court (Mr Justice Fraser) for placing in his award the splendid preference clause wherein it states that in future none but the pure and upright, the sober and industrious can become members of our union. They too, must be like unto oxen, strong and mighty. This portion of the award will, we feel sure, appeal to the employers. “We further thank him on behalf of our wives and families for the generous basic wage which has at last enabled us to solve the problems of the high cost of living, and now permits us to allow our dependants to visit the many health resorts and to enjoy a long-defer-red holiday. “It is further resolved that a deputation at once proceed to Wellington to offer the Government our over-plus and this we are certain, if accepted will help to pay off our national obligations.”
