YOUNG COUPLE’S AFFAIRS. Christchurch, February 3. Wedded in November, quarrelled in December, parted all January, separation order in February —that briefly is the marriage career of 19-years-old Cloreen Bertha Lucy Holden and Joseph Henry Holden, which Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., des.jp..v> dn.v as a travesty on marriage. Complainant, in applying for separation order, said, in that she was married in November last and she and her husband lived at her father’s home. A quarrel occurred just before Christmas, and her husband left home. She had received no money from him since then*At the time of the marriage defendant was earning 30/- a week Jmt he lost his job and was out of work for some time. Complainant’s father who said he was “a grandfather of six and should know something about the marriage stunt,” gave evidence that Holden had left home “after a bit of a bust up.” Defendant’s wife refused to speak to him and he said she was no good to him if she did tha. Then he went away and had not. returned. The magistrate said the whole thing was a travesty on marriage, yet it was quite within the law. All the couple wanted was the marriage ceremony. Now they were contented to part. There was nothing for him to do but make the order applied for.
