Barber, who was associated with Sir James Wilson as representatives of the Manawatu County Council at the recent Shannon bridge conference, we are informed that the subsequent support in favour of a new bridge as against temporary repairs to the present structure was only decided upon after careful considention of the whole position, which convinced him that ilie erection of a new bridge was the only safe and permanent settlement of the question. He feels sure when all the facts are known, all concerned will endorse the new bridge proposal.
