THE RABBIT PEST.
MAXAYYATU AND RANGITOTO RABBIT BOARDS CONFER,
A conference between the Mana-j^—-watu and fiaugitoto Rabbit Boards was held at Bulls yesterday. The Manawutu Rabbit Board was represented by Messrs B. G. Gower, W. E. Barber, Boswell, Barron (Bispeetur; and Eangiheuea (clerk). Rangitoto Board: Messrs K. > Trotter, Anion, inspectors Palmer and Sutherland and Goodall (clerk) the object of ihe conference w'as to discuss methods and uniformity of action in rabbit destruction over tlte combined Boards area. It was pointed out that experiments in m oailea.sting pollard poison was not detrimental to slock. The question of dealing with river bed areas was discussed. A demonstration was given by the Rangitoto Board, of laying poison on the "scrape” and the use of speeially constructed grubbers for the purpose. The Munawntu Board decided to purchase a number of .the grubbers. It uas decided to poison with pollard from September to April and with carrots and strychnine front May to August and to recommend fumigation of burrows with bi-sulphide when necessary.
