SHANNON BRIDGE.
At this week’s meeting of the Shannon Borough Council, the Town Clerk said he had received advice that the Manawatu County Council and Eoxton Borough Council had agreed to call a conference of th public bodies mentioned. Cr. Carter contended the whole business had been a bungle and that a temporary span should have been put on at the time instead of going • to the expense of a punt which, in his opinion, was not workable, and was ridiculous. By using a punt they were going hack 30 or 40 years. The Mayor then moved and Cr tarter seconded: “That the chairman of t he Main Highway Board be written to stating that the Council ta mured a conference being held by the local bodies mentioned and that the Horowhenua County Council be included.”
