FOXTON VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
Since the advent of the Foxton Fire Board and a well-equipped brigade, backed by a high pressure wa- . ter supply, very few conflagrations have taken place. Prior to this, Foxton had the unenviable reputation of being one of the worst places in the Dominion for disastrous fires, so much so, that insurance companies seriously considered tabooing the town so great were the losses sustained. Now, however, nearly every insurance company is ready to do business and to retrieve past losses. The brigade consists of enthusiastic young volunteers well-officered, and keen on mastering every detail of Are fighting. The Fire Board takes a live interest in the brigade’s welfare, both from an equipment and social point of view. A number of the brigadesmen are actively training for the annual Dominion competitions and should give a good account of themselves. The public can assist to make the social hall more attractive by gifts cl pictures, which will be much appreciated by the brigade. i
