FOXTON FIRE BOARD.
A meeting of the local members of the Eoxton Fire Board was held on Tuesday afternoon presided over by Mr J. K. Hornblow. There were also present, Messrs A. N. Smith, R. Bryant, and the secretary (Mr Rangiheuea). Superintendent Hamer was also in attendance. The superintendent reported that the brigade had turned out to an unauthorised rubbish fire. It was decided that the public be informed that rubbish fires after sunset cannot be permitted within the fire area, without the sanction of the superintendent and that no ac tion be taken in the present case. Resolved to purchase rubber gloves and pliers for the brigade’s use in case they are required to deal with live electric wires. The Superintendent was authorised to obtain attachments for hanging lamps on the engine. The action of Mr Smith was endorsed in respect to procuring linoleum] for social room. The Superintendent was authorised to have old couplings altered for practice purposes at a cost not to exceed £1 4/8. The Health Officer reported re sewerage connection at the fire station and it was decided to engage the borough official to remove the buehau trap and attend to the blockage. It was decided to forward the estimate for fencing the station section to the Wellington members and notify adjoining owners of intention to fence.
It was resolved to offer the chemical engine for sale to flaxmill owners.
