UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
A committee meeting of. the Foxton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office on Thursday evening, presided over by Mr W. E. Barber. There were also present Messrs D. Ogilvy, R. Bryant, M. E. Perreau, E. Parkin, A. X. Smith. J. M. Thomson, S. Austin, D. Christie and the secretary, (Mr F. Rimmer). Apologies for absence were received from Mr W. T. Jewell (president) and Mr H. Hutchins. . ; Messrs Mason and Warwick wrote,- offering to take charge of the children’s events on sports day. —Accepted with thanks. It was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union and the N.Z.A.A.A. Messrs A. N. Smith and R. Bryant were appointed an advertising committee with power to act. Decided to ask the Foxton Silver Band to be' in attendance on sports day. Mr M. E. Perreau’s offer to supply refreshments on the grounds was accepted* The following amounts were allotted io the various portions of the programme:—Amateur running £2O, professional running £SO; chopping and sawing £lB 10/-; horse events £-10 10/-. These, with children’s events will total over £l3O. Military events are also to be included. Messrs S. Austin and H. Robinson were appointed starters of the horse events.
The date for the closing of nominations was fixed for February 9th and the programme is to be printed and distributed immediately.
Messrs Mason, S. E. Cowley and D. R. Barron were elected members of the Association.
