MANGAHAO FATALITIES.
SCROLL TO BE PLACED TX POWER HOUSE. Reference was made by tin* Minister for Public Works, the Hon. J. <!. Coates, at the official opening of tin power station at Mangaore on Monday to the deaths of several workmen killed during the progress of the work's. He referred to the tunnel disaster in which seven lives were lost over two years ago. Of this total, five men died to save two comrades who were overtaken by gas in the tunnel. Mr Coates said that a scroll would he placed in the power house to commemorate their memory.
“Theirs was a noble death, worthy of the best traditions of our race, in that they laid down their lives in attempting to save those of their fellow-workers,” staled the Minister.
