FOXTON ROWING CLUB.
s UCCESSFULLY RESUSCITATED OPENING DAY SATURDAY WEEK. A meeting to resuscitate the defunct Foxton Rowing Club was held in the Town Hall Rest-room on Tuesday night. There was a fair attendance presided over bv Mr R. Bryant. The balance-sheet for the year ending September 30th. 1924, was read as follows: — Receipts.—Bank Balance 31st March, 1923, 10/-, R. Bryant £1 1/-, Post Office (£l2O. Interest £ls 16s 9d) £135 16/9, sale of iron £3 5/-, sale timber £2 10/-, a total of £142 13/7. Expenditure.—Cheque Book 4/ , Briscoe and Co. (1 ton iron and nails) £33 16/11, Wanganui Rowing Club (sub. and levy ) £1 1/-. Freight on timber £5 12/-, Goldfinch and Co. (limber) £l3 5/10, H. Podmore (wages) £4 18/-, T. Staff £7 10/-, R. Bryant £L 1/-. H. Osborne (cartage on timber) £3 1/3. A. Tollison (ridging) £2 16/-. Robertson and Co. .11/3, Thorpe and Tongs (nails) 16/4, Tollev and Hunt (fitting second hand lock) 13/-, R. N. Speirs (timber) £7 12/10. Bank Charge 5/-, N.Z. Insurance Co. (premium on shed) 15/4. Sundry aes. 12/-, A. E. Dunn (wages) £4

The assets show hoar shed £IOO, boat and gear £SO. The above was considered a very satisfactory state of affairs and the balance-sheet was adapted. NEW MEMBERS. The following new members were elected: —S. Austin, A. Walls, E. Graham, R. MeEvven, D. Christie, W. Christie, .T. Perreau, .T. Aitken, Cresswell and Wyllie. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron: J. Linklater, Esq., M.P. ; president: R. Bryant Esq., vice-presidents: Messrs B. G. (lower and M. E. Perreau; secretary ami treasurer: Mr E. Jackson. A commit tec, comprising all those present at the meeting was set up. OPENING DAY. It was decided that the opening day he Saturday 18th October at 3 p.m. Arrangements re decorations, etc. were left in the hands of Mr C. Simmons. It was decided to request the Foxton Silver Band to be in attendance. Minor details were left in the hands of the committee. GENERAL. * The Club colours are light blue and dark blue. It was decided that the membership fee be £1 1/- for meu and 10/6 for ladies. Mr M. E. Perreau was elected representative of the Club on the Foxton Band - Carnival Sports Queen Committee.
The club at present has two pleasure boats and one racing skip, and it is hoped in the near future to considerably increase the number of the club’s boats.
A working bee was arranged to carry out necessary work at the club's shed and to re-build the break-water which has been washed , away by recent floods. 'l’he matter of connecting the boating shed with the electric light was held over in the meantime.
