CHINESE DEFEAT MARL- ■ BOROUGH. Blenheim, Yesterday. Before an attendance of some 3,000 people, the Chinese soccer team registered the first win of its South Island tour against Alarlborpugh. Heavy rain preceding the game made the ground greasy and mitigated against the best exposition of scientific soccer. Afarlborongh’s pack lacked combined effort, which was taken full advantage of by tbe visitors, who showed brilliance both in attack and defence. Perfectly co-ordinating, they swept their opponents aside at will and only the splendid defence by the Marlborough backs and the goalie saved a bigger score. Half way through the first spell honours were even, until Wang trapped smartly from a corner kick. He shot low and fast, beating the Marlborough goalie. The half-time score was 1 to ml. Marlborough worked hard individually for the opening of the second spell. The game was not so fast, the Chinese,-shooting again and again unsuccessfully. AlarlImrough launched one good attack unfortunately failing to score, and the game ended without any further score.
